My First Post
Hey Blog Readers,
My mom encouraged me to start this blog to help maintain my sanity and keep her updated on everything going on in our lives since we live half a country away. Jesse and I are expecting our first baby some time near Christmas and I'll be staying home with the baby when he finally gets here. I've stayed home for work the last two days in an effort to get everything ready for the baby and to have a trial run at being unemployed. I expected to love the life of leisure for a couple of days but instead it drove me a bit nutty. I felt like I should be busy doing something productive. I realize that when the baby comes I'll have more than enough things to do but currently I am quickly realizing the importance of hobbies. In the absence of hobbies I have thrown myself into scrubbing the house top to bottom and doing last minute baby shopping. Our dog must have sensed my restlessness because yesterday she attempted to provide a little entertainment. I had put her outside so I could get some cleaning done and after a couple of hours I felt she had been unusually quiet and went to check on her. Apparently our new yellow pages had been delivered and she was systematically ripping it to shreds - page by page. The yard was cover in yellow paper. Luckily I caught her before she made it past the letter "P" but I still had a huge mess to clean up - this was the greater Washington DC area yellow pages after all. While I reached around my huge pregnant stomach to pick up the paper Roxy - our dog - raced around the yard jubilantly with a piece of yellow pages hanging out of her mouth. I'm not sure she every understood that it wasn't a game but at least it made the day a little more interesting.
